What do IT consultants actually do?
“They run a bounded engagement that produces a decision, a plan or an assessment you can act on: an assessment of where the risk is, a strategy and roadmap, a modernisation plan, a build-versus-buy decision, or a view of whether your team can execute the plan. It ends with an artefact and a recommendation, not with a standing service.”

“Consulting is advice and decisions; managed services is running the thing day to day. Consulting is bounded and priced as a fixed fee for a defined scope, or as time and materials. Managed services is ongoing and priced monthly, usually per user or per device.”
在公司資料中查看What should I ask before I hire IT consultants?
“What the deliverable is, exactly; who is actually doing the work; what happens if the recommendation is to do nothing; how they hand over; and what they have been wrong about. A firm that can say precisely what it would have to look at before it could quote the work is a firm that has done it before.”
