Copenhagen Atomics
Copenhagen Atomics: “Copenhagen Atomics’ 11.000 m2 reactor production facility in southern Copenhagen. Fixed price per reactor unit Each thorium molten salt reactor unit is priced at $50M, all-in, no overruns.”
What is Copenhagen Atomics?
“Copenhagen Atomics is a Danish nuclear energy company building thorium molten salt reactors for mass manufacturing. Founded in 2014 and based near Copenhagen Airport, the company has 75 engineers, has built two prototype reactors, and targets electricity at below $20 per MWh. The first 1 MWth test reactor is expected to be operational by 2028.”

“A molten salt reactor (MSR) uses liquid salt as both the fuel carrier and the coolant, instead of solid fuel rods and pressurised water. The reactor operates at atmospheric pressure, which removes the risk of a pressurised steam explosion. Higher operating temperatures also make the energy conversion more efficient than conventional light water reactors.”
