Questions & answers

What is Qi, Chi, or Ki?

“Chi, Qi, and Ki are different words for the same thing: life-force energy, which translates as “breath.” You will often hear the word “gong” or “kung” after these prefixes. Gong (kung) means development, so Qigong (Chi Kung) literally means “developing the life-force energy.” The courses on this site teach you how to build that energy.”

What is Qigong?

“Qigong (pronounced "chee-gung") is a Chinese mind-body practice that combines slow movement, controlled breathing, and focused attention to cultivate and circulate qi — the body's life-force energy. Practised for thousands of years, it is used for health, relaxation, and building internal power. More on what qi is”

What is the difference between Qigong and Tai Chi?

“Qigong is the broader practice of cultivating energy through breath, posture, and simple repeated movements. Tai Chi is a specific martial art built on Qigong principles, using flowing choreographed forms. Qigong is usually easier to learn first because its movements are simpler. Full comparison and which to learn first”
