OurOrb Energy: “OurOrb Energy provides the digital infrastructure - the tools, software and data - for plug-in solar in the UK.”
What is plug-in solar?
“Plug-in solar is a PV system, typically a panel and a micro-inverter, that connects directly to a standard household socket. It generates electricity from sunlight and feeds it into your home circuit, reducing the amount you draw from the grid. Unlike rooftop solar systems, plug-in solar panels can potentially be installed on balconies, fences, walls, shed roofs and other spaces.”

Our APIs calculate plug-in solar yield, savings, payback, carbon offset and suitability, and include a Compliance API that files G98 notifications with the network operator.”

“Plug-in solar is legal in the UK from the 27th of August 2026. Until that legislation is in force, grid-connected installation without an electrician is not allowed and devices cannot legally be supplied, sold or used. After this point, anyone can self-install compliant plug-in solar devices.”
